Under the direction of the maintenance manager and hotel general manager, this position provides general maintenance for all Rainier Guest Services operations including the hotels, visitor center, warehouse/office, and employee housing.
This position requires regular exposure to elevations up to 5,400 feet and to cold, snow, and rain.
DUTIES
POSITION SUMMARY: Assist in all phases of routine hotel, restaurant, and employee housing maintenance as directed at all facility locations. Also participate in more technical projects and installations, depending on experience. Company provides shop equipment such as table saw, bench grinder, pipe threading equipment, etc. Reports to and receives direction from Foreman and Maintenance Manager.
KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
•Promotes the spirit and intent of Guest Services Hospitality Standards
•Performs all duties as outlined in Trainee position.
•Performs all phases of opening and closing hotel and food services as directed by Foreman.
•Seasonal boiler system cleaning.
•Daily blow down and low water cut-off tests of Paradise Inn boiler according to factory service specifications.
•John Deere 350B maintenance and operation.
•Electrical repairs and installations.
•Basic plumbing repairs on plastic CPVC or ABS, galvanized and copper pipe, fixture replacement.
•Minor refrigeration repairs and trouble shooting.
•Locksmithing.
•Floor repairs, linoleum and underlament.
•General carpentry repairs and projects.
•During winter participate in snow removal duties using snow shovel, walk-behind snow blower, and of John Deere 350B, using safety equipment as needed or directed.
•Keep foreman informed of needed maintenance supplies.
•Fire suppression system start up, winterizing and maintenance.
•Smoke detector system trouble shooting and repair.
•Performs such other related duties as directed or required.
QUALIFICATIONS
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
As outlined in Trainee description, plus proven ability to work on ladders and on man lift.
Ability to operate snow cat.
Personal Qualities and Physical Requirements:
Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively. Must be able to write legibly as well as read and understand directions and instructions. Appearance must be in compliance with company guidelines.
Will be required to perform diverse physical tasks. Must be able to stoop, bend, grasp, and perform repetitive motions. Extensive walking and stair climbing. Good physical energy, stamina and agility. Must be able to navigate tight crawl spaces. Exposure to wet floors occurs. Must be able to work in cold, icy or snowy conditions, with elevations up to 6400 feet. Must be able to work on a ladder and above shoulder height. Must be able to lift 50 pounds periodically. Must be able to work weekends and be on-call.
Must be service and safety oriented. Must possess a sense of awareness, timelines, urgency, humor, and common sense. Must live in local community or in park. Must be able to adapt to the isolation of national park life.
