The Paradise Inn Baker Assistant assists in the daily production of specialty baked goods at Paradise Inn including pastries and desserts. Assist Lead Baker by preparing ingredients, following recipes, baking items, and keeping the kitchen clean and orderly.
This is a seasonal position from May to October.
DUTIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepare and bake food items such as pastries, doughs, fillings, cakes, pies, custards, and breads according to recipes, daily menus, and supervisor instructions
Assemble and maintain Sunday Brunch dessert station under direction of supervisor
Maintain assigned foods at sufficient quantities while minimizing production waste
Assist in maintaining kitchen sanitation and equipment cleaning schedule
Adhere to food safety guidelines including ServSafe and HACCP
Attend and participate in safety meetings
QUALIFICATIONS
SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE
High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent required; Culinary school diploma preferred
Three months professional or culinary school baking experience strongly preferred; hotel or national park experience preferred
Possess or be able to successfully complete ServSafe certification
Possess basic knowledge of culinary terms and practices; able to prepare baked items by following recipes
Able to follow directions to appropriately compensate for high altitude baking
Physical and Mental Requirements
Move about to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit.Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently; move in a constantly changing environment
Lift, carry, and push up to 15 lbs. regularly, 20-25 lbs. frequently, and up to 40 lbs. occasionally
Able to stand for extended periods; climb steps regularly
Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of co-workers and the ability to speak clearly to be understood by same in English
Able to read and write work-related documents in English
Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties
